budget buster

Did you realize that we are paying nearly a dollar more for gas now than we were a year ago at this time? It could get worse. AAA estimates another $0.75 increase in the March to June time frame. So we could be seeing gas prices get close to $4 a gallon. Ouch! Perhaps we can cut down on some of our driving and look to carpool more often. Any ideas you have for relief feel free to share here.

That’s really, really bad news!

As most of ya’ll know….Eric and I only have once car. We have had only one car now for almost 2 years now and it only becomes a problem every once and a while. Our solution to those time when we need a second vehicle is our scooter! It gets about 80 miles to the gallon and holds about 2 gallons of gas!! So you can go about 160 miles for only $6!! It is a great way to save money….on gas, on car insurance, on car maintenance…..the list goes on and on! I know most people find it unbelievable that they could survive on only one car….but it isnt as hard as you think!!! :) Maybe as a challenge you try only using one car for a week or two….save on gas and it is good for the environment!

For those who find it diffcult to get by with only one vehicle, or if you only have one car and are still interested in saving money on gas prices, read this study. It shows that there are many factors that affect fuel economy, but that the most influential factor affecting fuel economy is driving style. If you leave a few minutes earlier for your destination, relax, and stay under at or below 65 mph on the highway, you could realize a 30%-40% in fuel consumption!
